Who are we?
The Song Shul is Toronto’s newest and most exciting synagogue. We are a Community in Harmony, coming together in a most uplifting and positive atmosphere to celebrate our Jewish lives, all with an emphasis on music.
We have infectious enthusiasm for Jewish values, the Jewish culture, tradition, history, and religion, and we share that enthusiasm with all who join us. We are excited and committed to learning, singing and growing together with trust, respect and kindness, and to involving our children in a spirit of honesty, integrity and joy.
How are we like other shuls?
The Song Shul accommodates all life cycle events, offers learning opportunities, and can provide pastoral services and cemetery plots.
The Song Shul’s leaders are Shomrei Shabbat.
We are a registered charity with CRA, so all donations are tax receiptable.
How are we different from other shuls?
We are a music haven for those who want a fresh experience in their davening. Simply put, we make shul great. You’ve never seen or heard anything like this and you will just be WOWed.
We are an independent congregation, not affiliated with any organized movement. We welcome people of all Jewish backgrounds, and their ongoing presence and involvement throughout the year shows us that we are succeeding in making everyone feel welcome.
We have no rabbi. Instead, our spiritual leader is world-renowned Cantor Simon Spiro, a man of enormous Jewish knowledge and musical talent, rare integrity and compassion, and an outrageous sense of humour.
We bring people together—both within their own families and while connecting them to others in the community—through our exquisite music, engaging and lively services, creative and meaningful programming, and positive spirit.
We are a volunteer-driven congregation with a very low overhead structure and no building fund obligations. This means that your annual contribution is not wasted. Every penny is put toward delivering the high-quality musical and spiritual experiences that have beomce the signature of The Song Shul.
