Week of Goodness dot Com
I wasn’t around for the JFK assassination, too young to remember the RFK or MLK assassinations. I do remember Reagen being shot, Rabin being assassinated, even the attempt on the Pope’s life (the Pope!). But I, stupidly and naively, assumed that occurrences like these were all in the past, that the Secret Service and its international counterparts had it all figured out. I thought the gun problem of this generation was limited to public schools. (Please, lest you think I brush this off haphazardly, know that I am repeatedly horrified by these shootings!) But political leaders? I was sure that, at this point, it was something destined for the history books.
Silly me. Apparently there is no expiry date on assassination attempts. Yesterday, someone shot Trump. Regardless of how you feel about him, that is simply wrong. The world is going crazy. Even crazier than I imagined.
The Pro-Palestinians are running amok here in Toronto, and everywhere for that matter, joined by the ignorant mercenaries who collect an enticing salary to protest and spread lies against Israel. What do we do to combat the craziness? We speak out, we rally, we volunteer, we donate, we write letters, we pray, we get mad, we hide, we stop hiding, we talk about hiding, we talk about not hiding. Canadians make Aliyah. Israelis move to Toronto. Honestly, no one knows what to do.
Last week, Jon Goldberg, the father of 23-year-old hostage, Hersh Goldberg, sent me an email saying “Please have The Song Shul community storm the gates of heaven on behalf of the hostages.” The hostage families are beyond frustrated. In spite of all that they’ve been doing, their loved ones are still missing. So now, they’re changing tactics.
This week, Jon and his wife, Rachel Polin-Goldberg, have launched the “Week of Goodness” July 14 – 21. They are dedicating one week to surge goodness into the world and they are asking everyone to get involved. You’ve got to see this. Click here to learn about, and join, the Week of Goodness. No one can guarantee that this will cure the Crazy or bring the hostages home, but it can’t hurt. Let’s jump in and see what it does.
Am Yisrael Chai!
