Star of Jersey Boys and Come From Away | Singing on Rosh Hashana

Jeff Madden

Received a Dora Award for his performance as Frankie Valli in the hit musical Jersey Boys. Currently, he can be seen in the Mirvish production of Come From Away. Jeff has recorded two CDs and will be singing a special prayer for the hostages on Rosh Hashana.

Broadway Star of Beautiful, JC Superstar, and Paradise Square | Singing on Yom Kippur

CHILINA KENNEDY

Chilina is known for playing Carole King in the musical Beautiful on Broadway for over 1,200 performances. She also recently originated the Tony-award winning role of Dina on the First Broadway National Tour of The Band’s Visit.

AMBASSADOR MARK REGEV

Chairman of the Abba Eban Institute for Diplomacy and Foreign Relations at Reichman University. In addition to his position as Prime Minister’s Senior Advisor, he served as Israel’s Ambassador to the UK, and as the Prime Minister’s Advisor and International Spokesperson. He has become one of Israel’s most prominent voices in the English-speaking world.

GENERAL RICK HILLIER

General Hillier has commanded troops at various levels in Canada, Europe, Asia, and the United States. In 1998 General Hillier was appointed as the first Canadian Deputy Commanding General of III Corps, US Army in Fort Hood, Texas. In 2000 he took command of NATO’s Stabilization Force’s (SFOR) Multinational Division (Southwest) in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In May 2003 General Hillier was appointed as Commander of the Army and subsequently, in October 2003, he was selected as the Commander of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul, Afghanistan.

It's The Song Shul's first-ever High Holy Day Family Service! Our awesome Youth Leaders are fun, friendly, and they're ready for your family!

Join them for our short-and-sweet, interactive Rosh Hashana Family Service. Sing the songs, learn the prayers, act out the Torah tales, hear the shofar, enjoy a Rosh Hashana sweet,, and have fun!

On Yom Kippur, it's another exciting chance to sing the prayers together, learn the Torah stories, and understand what this special day is all about. And after the Yom Kippur Family Service, Kevin and Ilana will have snacks for the kids, and then more Yom Kippur activities!

Kevin & Ilana Heymann

Both born and raised in Toronto, Kevin and Ilana have been involved in Jewish informal and formal education and programming for most of their lives.

Ilana has led three Birthright Israel trips and has been involved in many other Jewish and Israeli advocacy programs on campus with Hillel and Aish. Ilana currently teaches at a private Jewish girls high school in North York.

Kevin studied in Yeshiva Lev Hatorah in Israel after high school and has volunteered with Chai Lifeline Canada for five years. Kevin currently works for a Hi-Rise real estate developer.

The two of them are very excited to guide The Song Shul teens through innovative and fun programming during the High Holy Days!

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Cantor Simon and Aliza Spiro guide us into the New Year with our fast-paced, relaxed, meaningful and unforgettable services. The Toronto Festival Singers provide the Signature Sound of The Song Shul, with a cushion of beautiful harmonies for our prayers. Aliza offers explanations throughout, completing this one-of-a-kind High Holy Day experience!

We’re back in the elegant and beautiful George Weston with its  perfect acoustics and comfortable seats. Start your Rosh Hashana mornings there with our complimentary coffee & pastry. End your Yom Kippur fast there with our complimentary juice and cookies for a sweet new year!

Anyone is welcome to purchase individual tickets for specific services. 

Note: If, after experiencing our renowned service, you decide that you would like to join The Song Shul, the cost of your ticket(s) will be applied to membership within 30 days of the High Holy Days.

If you have your own prayer book, please bring it. We will also have copies of the Silverman machzor available at each service for 1-day use. There is no chance that what you touch will have been used by someone else the previous day.

Coming with your kids?
We have babysitting for tots, children’s programs for the children, inspiration for all! Children are invited to march in the Torah parade, and invited up close to hear the shofar.

Also, The Song Shul Sticker Station will be open for the duration of the service.

    Join us 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM. We begin with the Torah reading. Those of you wishing to daven shacharit are invited to join Cantor Simon at 8:15 AM. Start your Rosh Hashana mornings with our complimentary coffee and pastry.

  • Kol Nidre Oct. 11th

    Join us from 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

  • Yom Kippur Day Oct. 12th

    Yom Kippur, including Community Yizkor, 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM. Those of you wishing to daven shacharit are invited to join Cantor Simon at 9:00 AM.
